Captain John Oravec
Musky Fishing on the St. Lawrence River
June 16, 2014
Location: The Moose Lodge 5375 West Henrietta Rd., Henrietta, NY
Meeting starts at 7:00 PM
Captain Oravec will begin Approx 8:00 PM
Our guest speaker will be the legendary Captain John Oravec. He will be giving a presentation on fishing for muskies on the St. Lawrence River. Captain Oravec is one of the most experienced Great Lakes fishing guides in New York State with over thirty years experience and fifteen years experience guiding for muskies in the St. Lawrence River. He will be presenting detailed information on a variety of tactics, techniques and locations for targeting muskies on the Larry based on his many years of experience and success in the area. He has previously given presentations for the Three Rivers Chapter of Muskies Inc. and The Niagara Musky Association and I have heard that puts on an excellent program.
This is free and open to the public. If you have any interest at all in fishing the St. Lawrence for muskies you don’t want to miss Captain Oravec’s presentation. Even if you don’t ever fish the St Lawrence you can learn some things that you can apply elsewhere. I suggest that you take notes.
Meeting agenda before the presentation
1) Brief review of current business
2) Drawing of winner of the Booze Basket Raffle. We need everyone to return raffle ticket stubs and receipts on or before the meeting to make sure they are all accounted for. There will be an opportunity for final ticket purchases.
3) Since the following Saturday will be the Musky opener, if time allows we can discuss plans and prospects for the long awaited season.
4) We will have a lure raffle either before or after Captain Oravec’s presentation.
For those of you who are participating in the DEC diary studies, don’t forget to enter the information any time you fish those waters. Also, I want to encourage everyone to enter all muskies over 30″ that you catch into the Lunge Log. This is what is used for the annual catch awards. You can do it online at www.muskiesinc.org. Click on Member Login and you can log in with your member number as password. Once you have logged in you can create your own password. Once you are on the Member Home Page, click on Lunge Log and then Lunge Log Entry which will bring you to the entry form. For those who don’t have internet, you can fill out a printed form and turn it in.
Have a great season
